Cam Thompson

Photography / Cinematography / Editing

Does Cam T film? Yes, Cam T Films.

Cam T, who apparently loves to film, is Cam Thompson. And he has been filming in various capacities since 2011. He started out as an analogue and digital photographer in Norway, while doing a Master’s in Linguistics. He worked at a student newspaper covering everything from local news stories to music festivals (some of those photos of the latter can be found on this website on the pho T ography page). Always with a passion and desire to write and tell stories on film, he took the tools he had at the time and taught himself how to also be a dSLR filmmaker to the point where he also taught others at the newspaper. He then spent the next two and half years working as a video journalist and making corporate and promotional videos for the local university.

In 2014, Cam decided it was time: he left Norway and went to film school to continue his education and fell in love with every aspect of the craft. Everything from any of the key creative positions (directing etc.) to even working as a lampOp, Cam was always well chuffed with the role he had either on set or in post. Graduating in March 2016, Cam left with specialisations in Cinematography and Editing and demo reels to boot — which can be found on the website.

Currently, he is taking his infatuation with analogue photography and applying it to film. Having purchased a High Speed S16mm Arriflex plus enough stock for a few short films, Cam is working to keep true film alive for as long as possible. He has just finished the festival run of his first short film, The Malathion Solution, which he had written, produced, directed, and was cinematographer for while in his last two terms at Vancouver Film School. Shot on Kodak Vision3 colour negative, you can watch it in its entirety here.

Finally, if you would like to get in touch with Cam, he would love to hear from you. You can most easily reach him via email him at: cam.t@cam-t.com

If you are interested in employing Cam and would like to see a CV with references, please email him and he would be more than happy to send it to you post haste.
